Another difference is that computer desks usually have drawers; not all office desks have them. The drawers can be to one side or located on both ends, and some of them will be lockable, especially the bottom ones. There is also a small sliding drawer right under where the monitor is placed. This one is for placing small odds and ends, like pens, pins, paperclips and so on. If you find a desk that has drawers and you cant tell whether it would work as a computer desk. Look at other features such as portholes and size.
Looking in office furniture shops, you will find some models that are the combination of the office desk and the computer desks. They have ports and they are large. These are what are called executive desks and the distinguishing feature that they have is that they dont have compartmentalized spaces beneath. They will have one large, flat surface that takes everything - the screen, the keyboard, the hard drive and everything else. Executive desks are mostly used in the most senior offices. The rest - middle and lower management - use computer desks that are smaller.
Some people would let a carpenter build computer desks but this is not the best option. Why? Basically, it is crucial because apart from the functions of the desk, it should also give ergonomic comfort. What does it mean? The monitor should not be too high or too low from the person using it. The keyboard and the mouse should also be located in the right place because this might bring discomfort after long hours of working in front of the computer. Aside from that, the computer desks should come with an ergonomic chair to make sure that you will not feel body pain while doing computer work. Do the computer desks have small wheels at the bottom? This is also very important because sometimes, the computer is transferred from one location to another. If it has these small wheels, then moving it would not be a problem at all. So what are the different types of computer desks and office desks?
A good computer desk is extremely important for everyone. Fortunately, there are thousands of different computer desks out there that can meet anyones needs. Some prefer glass desks while some would rather purchase a classic wood desk. By consulting the aspects of each computer desk category you can decide which one serves your purpose. There is a large array of computer desks on the market, starting from modern and glass desks to corner and executive desks. Lets go through each of them one by one.
The desks come in many varieties. The L shaped computer desk is best suited to an office or home and is usually best positioned either in a corner or against a wall. It is often found in corporate cubicles. In addition to the standard considerations, this type of desk often comes with overhead shelf space and/or drawers, which can be used for supplies or files. The U shaped desk is often found in executive offices and can also come with a variety of amenities. The corner desk is often found in homes in kids rooms or in places where space may be limited. These desks tend to be more compact than the other two types, but often have all the standard amenities and sometimes have additional add-ons.
